Oupa Mokoena has a twenty-three (23) years of experience with eighteen (18) years of middle, senior and executive management experience, ranging from auditing, municipal revenue and expenditure management, financial planning and budgeting, financial accounting and reporting, assets management, supply chain management, risk management, strategic management, performance management, and stakeholder and customer relations management.
He completed his matric in 1991 at Mathibela Secondary School in Bushbuckridge and continued with undergraduate studies at Tshwane University of Technology, (defunct Technikon Pretoria) where he obtained his National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting in 1995.
He further obtained a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce in Municipal Accounting and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Financial Management at the University of South Africa in 2004 and 2012 respectively.
He is currently studying towards his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Degree at the University of South Africa - School of Business Leadership.
He has been a Member of Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO) since 1999.
Competency enhancement programmes
He has obtained a Certificate Programme in Management Development for Municipal Finance (CPMD) at the University of Witwatersrand (Business School) in 2008 and completed in 2009 an Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme at the University of Pretoria.
