EXPERIENCE
Mr Shabangu has 18 years' experience in local government, having served in different portfolios. In 2000 he joined Bushbuckridge Local Municipality as a ward councillor in 2006 was elected as ward councillor and member of the mayoral committee for both Finance LED planning and environmental management and also served as MEC for technical services within the five year term.

2011 elected as councillor speaker and later resigned to join EDM on 02 June 2012 as the then manager responsible for Municipal Health services, Environmental management and planning
ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS:
Won the Kamoso wards in 2013 for the best district project in environment and culture for Ehlanzeni Waste Ambassador.
Having won the best department of the financial year 2013/14
Concluded the transfer of staff/ devolution of municipal health services
Established the environmental management unit

Department Role, Municipal Health is responsible for Monitoring, Sampling, Bacteriological & Chemical Tests for quality control purposes. Monitoring and evaluation of performance of Local Municipalities with regard to waste, sewerage, and landfill sites
