The Department of Corporate Services is established in terms of section 50 - 53 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000. Its roles are further guided by section 66 - 71 of the same Act. The department renders its administrative support to the municipality through the following strategic units: Human Resource Development, Communications and Marketing, Legal Services, Records Management, Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) and the Individual Performance Management (IPM) Unit.
Finance Supply Chain
The core role of the department is to ensure sound financial management throughout the municipality by implementing legally sound processes and systems of financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury, supply chain management, asset management and information technology.
The primary role of Technical Services Department in the district is to:
(a) ensure integrated development planning of bulk water, sanitation, roads and public transport services in the district,
(b) promote bulk infrastructural development and services for the district as a whole;
(c) build capacity of local municipalities in its area to perform their functions and exercise their powers where such capacity is lacking.
