Vision

‘A district municipality that provides impactful service delivery to its communities.’

Mission

‘Ehlanzeni shall be the socio-economic centre of coordination, development planning and sustainable of delivery of services.’

Ehlanzeni District Municipality (EDM) is one of the three districts in Mpumalanga Province and is located in the Northern Eastern part covering the whole Southern part of the Kruger National Park. EDM covers an area of 27 895.47 km² which is about (36.47%) of the 76 495 km² which is the total estimated land size of Mpumalanga Province. It is bordered by both Mozambique in the east and Swaziland in the South. Other neighboring districts municipalities in South Africa are Sekhukhune in the North, Nkangala in the west and Gert Sibande in the South.

Ehlanzeni is comprised of four local municipalities which are: – Bushbuckridge, City of Mbombela, Nkomazi, and Thaba Chweu. Our strategy will ensure that the municipality’s strategic objectives are communicated in a simpler manner to the relevant target audience. It will also propel the realization of the vision of EDM, that of being “The best performing District Municipality of the 21st century”. Informed by leaders of all spheres of government who have expressed their expectations on improved communication that will market, promote and inform electorates of what government is doing to improve their lives,

We are using this platform to also promote investments, economic growth and job creation. We draw our inspiration from our provincial pay-off line which is “The Place of the rising sun” which communicates a life experience of hope, consistency and abundant opportunities.   Situated in the provincial capital of “The Place of the rising sun” EDM continues to be the country’s tourist destination of choice through its scenic beauty as depicted by the majestic meandering escarpment that showcases the natural awe inspiring areas of the district including God’s Window, Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck potholes and others. The fact that municipalities are at the coalface of service delivery and the closest sphere of government to communities this strategy must provide support to the requirements of the Constitution and the Local Government Systems Act No. 32 of 2000. Chapter (4) which talks about promoting the participation of communities, this strategy must promote section 152(a) of the Constitution which is one of the objects of Local Government (to provide democratic and accountable government for the communities).
